This check works by trying to download an image through the specified port. Port 80 is the standard web (http) port, and port 443 is the standard secure web (https) port.

Popup Windows

This check tries to load a Popup Window. Pop-up windows are used in a number of Blackboard features, such as Course Map, Electric Blackboard (Notepad), and Collaboration tools (Virtual Classroom and Chat).

Part 2: Virtual Classroom and Chat Check
This check is relevant only if you need to use Virtual Classroom or Chat features in Blackboard. You do not need to worry about the results of these checks if you are not using these features.

The Virtual Classroom and Chat are Java applets, and as such require Java to run. This check outputs the version of Java that you are running.
If you see nothing (other than a greyed-out box) then Java functionality is not available.
The version of Java that Blackboard supports is 1.4.2. Other versions may work, but if you're experiencing problems with the Virtual Classroom or Chat, you should change to 1.4.2. |
